Le Dîner en Blanc – Brisbane to Celebrate 5 Years!
Springtime is fast approaching in the southern hemisphere, and you know what that means, don’t you? Le Dîner en Blanc is just around the corner for our Australian friends!
Le Dîner en Blanc – Brisbane is getting ready to dress and impress on Saturday, October 22nd. As they prepare for their 5th annual event, co-hosts Amy Grey and Brooke Williams, took the time to answer some questions we had about their history with Le Diner en Blanc in their city.
Brisbane has played host to the elegant picnic in years past at South Bank Cultural Forecourt (2012), Northshore Hamilton (2013), Roma Street Parkland (2014), and Queens Park (2015). We can only guess which iconic urban locale will feature in this year’s magical evening.
How is Le Dîner en Blanc different from any other event in which you’ve been involved?
Brooke explains that Le Dîner en Blanc “does not just last the few hours it is run for each year. Guests are fully committed to preparing and coordinating with friend’s fashionable outfits, gourmet meals and logistics well into the months leading up to the event.”
Diner en Blanc is incredible! I love that it attracts such a loyal following. I am very supportive of keeping the ticket cost low. It means that everyone can come and enjoy a glorious event. I also really enjoy that people have the chance to meet new people. We see so many people who start as strangers and leave as friends. – Amy Grey
Amy also says that Brisbane’s uniquely beautiful sub-tropical weather and gorgeous public spaces make Le Diner en Blanc look just spectacular. What more could you ask for? A beautiful backdrop and dedicated guests always makes for an evening to remember!
What is your proudest or most memorable Dîner en Blanc moment?
Amy: My most memorable moment was at the third event at Roma Street Parklands. Guests, unprompted and unexpectedly, got up on the steps behind the DJ and started dancing, singing and clapping along to the music. I was even 12 weeks pregnant and couldn't help myself, I had to get up and join in too. It was infectious.
Brooke: For me the greatest sense of achievement was at the end of our first event at Southbank in 2012. Hosting over 1000 guests was the largest event either of us had undertaken at that stage. We received very positive feedback and have grown a loyal following ever since. We love seeing happy guests return again and again each year bringing new friends with them.
Amy Grey and Brooke Williams are experts when it comes to Le Dîner en Blanc, and their guests are stylish veterans. While these hosts also dream of toasting Le Dîner en Blanc with friends around the world—whether that’s in Paris where it all started, New York, or even Vancouver—they are proud to have brought the event home. “We look forward to the next 5 years,” they say.
As the rest of the world waits to find out where this year’s momentous occasion will spring up next, Brisbane hosts leave us with this Diner en Blanc Teaser Trailer. We wish you a wonderful 5th anniversary, Brisbane! Bonne chance…
