Mexico City: 5 Years of Le Dîner en Blanc!
Le Dîner en Blanc will return to Mexico City next month to celebrate its 5th anniversary! This was the first Latin American city to host the chic picnic back in 2012. Not only was Host Eduardo Uribe the one to pioneer of this event—his work has now influenced many other cities and countries to join the party: Brazil, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. His growing expertise has brought the joy and elegance of Le Dîner en Blanc to Guadalajara and Puebla. In anticipation of this year’s milestone event, we had the chance to get the inside scoop from yours truly…
Mexico City has trilled guests over the years at landmarks such as the Plaza Tolsá, Lago de Chapultepec, Plaza de Santo Domingo, and the Museo de Carcamo. But where will it take place this year? Keep your ears perked and your eyes peeled this November 10th, to see where the beautiful guests will celebrate this 5th elegant Dîner en Blanc.
When his best friend told him about Le Dîner en Blanc de Paris he had attended, Eduardo was so taken with the idea of having an event at home, that he couldn’t sleep. He “immediately saw it as a possibility for our great Mexico City.” And in return, the city fell in love with the concept.
Hosting a successful event means knowing your city inside and out, especially the people who proudly live there. “Mexico is a vibrant, complex and amazing city,” Eduardo says, “one of the biggest in the world.” The city’s iconic and alluring “architectural, historical and cultural heritage combined with our passion and joy to live, makes the perfect context for a celebration like the Dîner en Blanc.”
There’s nothing like that first glimpse of Dîner en Blanc to get everyone excited about the event and about each other. After five years, Eduardo reminisces about the first edition of Le Dîner en Blanc in Mexico City: “The doors of the balcony of the Palacio de Mineria in Plaza Tolsá suddenly opened and a soprano came out singing the Aria ‘Oh mio Babbino Caro’. People were just amazed, moved and where hugging each other in fraternity and emotion reunited in friendship. That, I will never forget!”
And that’s just one of many, many fond memories guests and hosts will continue to share. It’s no surprise that Le Dîner en Blanc “has become one of the most expected events of the year.” And with such dedicated communities involved, we can only expect this special anniversary occasion to dazzle us with everything Mexico City has to offer.
¡Feliz Dîner en Blanc!

How is Dîner en Blanc different from any other event in which you’ve been involved, we asked?
"The Dîner en Blanc is not an event; it's a collective achievement. It is a small demonstration of big things that are possible when we connect and we create something together as a society. Dîner en Blanc makes people remember the simplicity of enjoying life and that anything is possible."
